User Centric Designs
What is User Centric Design?
It is what it sounds like in the name. A design that is geared towards being the most of use to the user instead of design that based on creating a beautiful product. An example of this would be with Norman Doors, those doors that most people have come across but never knew the name of. The sort of door that has handles that look like they should be pull doors but instead are push doors. We have all been there and it is a frustrating event each time. This is the sort of experience that doing user centric design process can help negate these frustrations.
As a designer, it is important to have this goal in mind when designing GUI and UX features and using feedback from users to understand how to create better products. Especially with game design where everything we are doing should have some user experience focus. From gameplay to menus to how inventory systems work, user centric interactions should be taken into consideration. This is also why obtaining feedback from users is important when first producing the experience and afterwards. Personally, this is why I want to try to include accessibility options within my user centric design process as it can be something that can be overlooked still.
